Would you like to cultivate your garden? Let me show you how I did it! This plant video walk you through a detailed guide on how to grow your very own avocado tree from the seeds and witness the entire process in time-lapse. Hence, Lets Start our exciting journey!

Starting with the Seed

Start by simply eating an avocado and saving the seed. Peel the seed shell and plant it in soil. You can use other trees for bonsai, but again make sure to google if cold stratification is necessary! You can start the germination process by putting under a wet paper towel and in a sealed plastic bag to keep it humid. Because avocados are partial to warmth, store your bag in a warm spot, such as 70-80°F (21-27°C) Within a 45 day period, the seed will open and a root will sprout. This is quite an exciting moment since it serves as the start of your avocado bonsai adventure!

The Germination Process

When The Root Comes, Put the seed in Water. You can do that in a jar or a glass. Hang the seed half way into the water with toothpicks. In a month, the first shoot will appear: with rapid development, the root will increase the size of leaves. Once the stem has grown to around 6 inches, it is time to pot your bonsai onto a stone.

Creating the Bonsai

The plant and roots are submerged in water to find out where the go touches the stone before shaping it. This helps identify the components that need to be removed. Chip away at the stone with an old screwdriver and hammer until the root fits just snug. This is the most important step for your bonsai tree to appear natural and aesthetic.

The following step is to use a keto clay to cover them, this clay will be sticky and assist in maintaining the humidity of the roots over the first days. It also helps define the roots around the stone. When you put the rock in the soil, make sure the ends of the roots are near to the soil. This helps the roots settle in their new home. Caring for Your Avocado Bonsai

Once you have formed the stone, and placed your plant in it you can utilize more keto clay to give some support to the roots. I also took some moss from my garden and put it on top of the soil level to retain moisture longer and to make the bonsai look like in a natural environment as well. During the first days, it is important to wet the roots with water sprays so that they do not dry out. Once the plant has grown, is when you can start to train the stem to be how you want your bonsai tree to look. Dream Use wire to act like a rib cage or frame that will hold the branches and stem in place as you shape it into a complete circle Once it is established, prune the top to promote new growth. This will encourage branching, creating a bushier bonsai. If the original moss does not appear to be right, clear from unwanted plants, add more soil formula on top and spread some moss seed. Give it regular water … and now you have lovely moss that will grow beside that gorgeous avocado bonsai!!

Optimal Growing Conditions

For a thriving avocado bonsai, it’s important to provide the right growing conditions:

  • Substrate: Should keep in well-draining soil with some organic matter. Best Soil For Bonsais – The soil mix a large number of bonsai experts recommend is one specially mixed for bonsais, and typically contains a blend of akadama, pumice and lava rock. This mix permits good drainage as well as aeration for the roots.V
  • Temperature: The root system of an avocado is subtropical, so temperatures should be optimal between 60 and 85°F (15 to 29°C). DO NOT allow plant to be below 50°F (10°C); stress and growth will suffer.
  • Watering: Water the plants regularly to keep the soil damp but not soaking wet. When the top inch of soil is dry, water well. Too much water will cause root rot, so it is important to strike a balance here.
  • Light: Avocado Bonsai requires full indirect exposure to sunlight. But avocados also require a lot of light to grow, sunburning the leaves. An area with filtered sunlight or a window facing south.
