Mango Mango is a little more difficult than your average fruit tree to plant: It will take 5-8 years before it begins producing its delicious fruit! Seeing that little seed grow into a healthy tree is like witnessing magic. In this article, I will give a walk-through of my timelapse in a 157 days journey of Grow Mango Tree which can be followed by the best conditions for its growth so that your mango plants grow very well.
The Beginning: Planting the Seed
It all began with the ripe mango and a dream. When the fruit was ripe, I would then gently remove the seed and prepare it for planting. Unbeknownst to me, this minuscule little seed would go on a journey that took 157 days and was recorded in a simply amazing time lapse video.
The Timelapse Journey
Seeing my mango tree, which started as a seedling was like watching magic. I had almost gave up on the plant after I planted it. However after a while, and when it is taken care of, the seedling began to grow. Watch a timelapse of all the excitement — from the first little sprout to the green leaves racing upwards towards sunshine!
Growing Conditions for a Mango Tree
Providing the Correct Growing Conditions To make your mango tree be healthy, it is important that you give the right growing conditions. Here’s what worked for me:
1. Soil Mix I used a well-draining soil mix to give my mango tree the best start. The mix included:
- Compost: Provides essential nutrients.
- Perlite: Improves aeration and drainage.
- Pine Bark: Adds structure and helps retain moisture.
- Coco Coir: Retains water while keeping the soil light and airy.
2. Temperature Mangos like it warm. I also placed my plant permanently in a warm room with 70°F — 85°F (21°C — 29°C)redentials. This imitates the hot and humid tropical weather which is loved by mango trees naturally.
3. Light Mango trees require rich sunlight for optimal growth. I light up our grow lamp to get 24 hours of light exposure. Though it sounds somewhat extreme, these photoperiods more closely simulate the long daylength (short night) of the tropics and consequently support rapid growth. But in non aritificIal setting sunshine should be 8-10 hours per day at least.
4. Watering Mango trees need to be watered regularly, but the irrigation must not cause waterlogging of the soil. I just watered my plant when the top inch was dry to touch. Root rot can be caused by overwatering, so use well-draining soil mix.
The Joy of Gardening
Planting a mango seed and having it grow to a tree is one of the best things about gardening. It takes time, commitment and a slight understanding of the right growing conditions. Well, the reward is with every moment of work. This project is a fantastic way to experience nature more directly – it allows you to spend some time with the life that feeds us all, and get an understanding of what grows well where you live.
Well then get yourself a mango, save the seed and start planting — you have an awesome mango growing experience to look forward too. By putting some care in and being a little patient, you will soon have a mango tree to savour for years.
Happy gardening!
