Do you want to grow your own tiny cannabis tree? You’re in the right place! In this guide, we are going to show you how to create a lovely healthy cannabonsai from seeds, will also mention substrate temperature humidity and light conditions for your plant to grow strong and happy. And some great time-lapse footage of your cannabonsai in the making.

Getting Started: Choosing and Germinating Your Seed

It all begins at a seed to this beautiful cannabis bonsai. Choose Your Strain!: I have decided to use Wedding Cake for this guide. Start by sowing it in a small container filled with light, loose nutrient-rich soil. Sow the seed just below the surface in a inch deep trench and water it. Within 3 to 4 days, a seed will sprout and grow its first set of leaves.

Repotting and Shaping Your Cannabis Bonsai

Repot when your plant is at least four leaves beyond the initial tiny leaves. Step 2: Gently untangle the soil from the roots in preparation for mindlessly sprawling the roots over a stone. This technique that is promoted forces the roots to grow around the stone, so your plant will have an artistic addition.

Spread the roots over the centre of stone and cover with soil. Continue to shape your plant by placement. Once you accept that growth, start shaping it using a piece of Bonsai wire while the plant turns its leaves towards the light. Wind the wire around a part of the stem and make it bend in the right direction.

Nurturing and Maintaining Your Cannabis Bonsai

If you want a healthy, well-tended cannabis bonsai tree,… These are some of the critical criteria to consider:

Substrate

Well-draining, good soil mix with some nutrients This will be good for the development of roots and the growth of their entirety.

Temperature

Keep temperature stable from 70-85°F Bonsai cannabis plants love warmer temperatures

Watering

Different types of bonsai trees need different levels of humidity in the atmosphere but in general, you should water your bonsai when the soil starts to dry out or if its leaves are beginning to droop. Just take care not to overwater, because then the roots can rot.

Light

In addition, you will have cannabis bonsai plants that need a lot of light. With this tutorial you don’t even have to adjust your light cycle if you’re growing an autoflower strain. If you have photoperiod strains though, make sure they get 18-24 hours of light each day for the vegetative stage and just 12 hours of lights during flowering.

Fertilization and Flowering

Fertilize with a high nitrogen fertilizer to encourage growth in the vegetative stage. Switch to a higher phosphorus fertilizer when the plant begins to flower. Use wire to further shape your bonsai and remove lower leaves to reveal the stone, roots, and stem.

Enjoy the Process

At the end of the day cannabis can be fun to grow in BONSAI style because not only is the end result sweet (no pun intended) but so is getting there. Capture timelapse pictures to monitor how your plant changes with different stages of growth. Keep this stone clear from the soil by removing it regularly and replacing with identical stones to expose more of the roots, for a naturally cool appearance.

Final Thoughts

In the end, I’m pretty proud of my second weed bonsai! This plant keeps thriving, blooming as seen in the timelapse. Autoflower strain will not need you to change the light cycle. Change the light cycle (for non-autoflower) to force flowering.

If you liked this project with the cannabis bonsai, comment or give it a like. Finally, we close with a final timelapse segment of the flowering plant. Happy growing!
